Ivor Novello Award Winner
Zoe received an Ivor Novello Award, Impact Award, at the Ivors Composer Awards 2021. At the award ceremony, the Ivors Academy said of Zoe: “We come now to the first of our Ivor Novello Awards tonight for outstanding achievement. This year’s Impact Award recognises a composer and pianist who’s one of the brightest stars on the contemporary jazz scene. Throughout her career Zoe Rahman has been influenced by her Engish, Irish and Bengali heritage, written music with swing, lyricism, energy and intimacy. Her sound is drenched with originality and a jazz legitimacy that recognises her pedigree as a world class artist, composer and performer. Winner of the Perrier Young Jazz Musician of the Year in 1999, she has since picked up a MOBO a Parliamentary Jazz Award and a Mercury Prize nomination. And with her commitment to education and campaigning for greater female representation in instrumental jazz, she inspires a new generation with her experience, generosity and passion. Zoe has just become a patron of The Jazz Centre UK Read article in Jazzwise Magazine
Composer for Told by an Idiot Theatre
Zoe was commissioned to compose a jazz score for a new show by Told by an Idiot Theatre Company called “The Strange Tale of Charlie Chaplin and Stan Laurel”, which is on tour throughout the UK in 2020, includung in her home town Chichester (21st-25th Jan) and at Wilton’s Music Hall in London (14th-18th Jan) as part of the London Mime Festival. It will also be on tour in Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Newcastle, Scarborough, Northampton, Exeter and will be showing in Luxembourg on 9th/10th Jan 2020.
